Create Media Folder

This will use the example of uploading the OS symbols to MEDIA =opencpn:file:os [OS Icons for windowws, linux etc] for reference by Opencpn Dokuwiki pages. The “OS” folder will be created under “files”. This process is very similar to creating new pages on the content side of the wiki.

1. Open dokuwiki and navigate to the Home page (Pick the “Home” symbol in the “You are here” list at the top right). The location is: 

URL  http://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=opencpn

2. Now pick Media Manager and the link changes to 

URL: %%[[http://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=opencpn&do=media&ns=

3. Now in the namespace tree on the left navigate to where you want to put the new directory.
4. Then just change the URL to correctly show the full path with the new directory.

URL  https://opencpn.org/wiki/doku.php?id=opencpn&do=media&ns=opencpn:files:os

5. The key is to add the full path after the “=” sign. So in this case it is “opencpn:files:os“
6. Now hit “Enter”. The window says “Nothing was found”
7. This directory will last as long as you have it open. So you must upload some files to it or it will disappear once you close your browser.
8. Now click on Upload tab.
9. “Select” and Browse and Highlight files and then Upload files.
10. Now the OS directory will remain.

Remove Media Folder

I believe if you do the reverse of Create a new Directory, to Remove a directory, it will work.

  1. Empty the directory.
  2. Remove the directory from the URL and hit enter.
  3. That will remove the directory.
